Nagios 3.0a4 Released

The fourth alpha release of Nagios 3 is now available for more testing. As mentioned before, this is development code, so be careful when deployng it. Read the Changelog for changes since alpha 3. You can download the alpha release here.

Open Source, Nagios, and Corporate Responsibility

Will Hurley posted an interesting blog article at TalkBMC titled “ Welcome to Opensville, Population Zero. He talks about how some companies build their products on Open Source projects like Nagios, but fail to give back to the respective communities. Very interesting read that should provoke some good discussions.

Nagios 2.8 and NRPE 2.7.1 Released

Nagios 2.8 has just been released! This latest stable release fixes several bugs that were present in versions 2.7 and earlier (see the Changelog). NRPE 2.7.1 was also released with a minor bugfix to prevent compilations errors under AIX. You can download the new releases here.

Nagios 3.0a1 Released

The first official alpha release of Nagios 3 is now available! This is development code, so I wouldn’t recommend replacing your stable Nagios 2.x installation with it yet. Nagios Community Site Open

NagiosCommunity.org has just been launched. It’s a new site that will hopefully prove to be useful for Nagios users. The blog will be used to communicate development information more effectively and the wiki is a user-run ecosystem of tutorials, presentations, event information, etc. Check it out and start contributing!

NRPE 2.7 Released

NRPE version 2.7 has just been released. The new release allow the NRPE daemon to continue if non-fatal configuration errors are encountered, and should detect the location of SSL header and library files better. You can download the new release of NRPE here.

Ton Voon @ FOSDEM 2007

If you’re headed to the FOSDEM 2007 conference in Brussels this coming weekend, make sure to check out Ton Voon’s “Lightning Talk” about the Nagios Plugins.
